Coach Tony Dello is a former minor league hitting instructor with the Arizona Diamondbacks (Class AA
affiliate in Tennessee). He completed his 8th season with the organization in 2006. Coach Dello recently
joined the Chicago Cubs organization and began working with the MLB Big-league club during 2007
Spring Training. He has conducted camps throughout the United States including as far as Alaska. He
has also served as a writer for Collegiate Baseball and Baseball Parent Magazines where he wrote
articles covering various hitting topics. Tony also served as Director of Youth Instruction for Arizona
State University under head coach Pat Murphy.

coaching staff at Protege Sports, an online coaching service.
- In 2006, Coach Dello was a coaching staff member for Team USA in the inaugural MLB World
Baseball Classic.
- In 2006, Coach Dello was promoted to the position of hitting coach for the Tennessee Smokies
(Class AA Affiliate for the Arizona Diamondbacks)
- In 2005, Coach Dello was the hitting coach for the South Bend (IN) Silverhawks (Class A Affiliate
for the Arizona Diamondbacks) who won the Midwest League Championship and led the league
in hitting and homeruns.
- From 1999-2006, Coach Dello worked for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
- In 2004, he worked for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League where the team
played in the Championship game.
- In 2003, he worked with the U.S.A. Olympic Baseball Qualifying Team.
- In 2002, he worked with the MLB National League All-Star Team at Miller Park in Milwaukee, WI.
- In 2001, he worked on the major league coaching staff of the MLB World Series Champion
Arizona Diamondbacks.
- In 1999, he worked professionally for the Milwaukee Brewers.
- Coach Dello has worked as a hitting coach and in other coaching capacities at the following
Division I and NJCAA schools – St. Mary’s College (CA), Northern Illinois University, Arizona State
University, James Madison University (VA) and McHenry County College (MCC) (NJCAA-IL).
- In 1996, Coach Dello helped coach the MCC Fighting Scots and Coach Whit Chaiyabhat to the
NJCAA Region IV Regional Championships and one game shy of the NJCAA College World Series
at the USA Baseball Stadium in Millington, TN.
- Tony is a member of the Chicago Pitch and Hit Club and the American Baseball Coaches
Association.
